The origins of the Bolognese ragù are related the French 'ragoût', a stew of ingredients reduced to small pieces, which became popular in the 18th century.
I follow my family recipe: my ragù alla bolognese is a slowly cooked sauce including the characteristic soffritto of onion, celery and carrots, gound beef, milk, and tomatoes. The dish is then gently simmered at length to produce this thick and delicious sauce.
In Bologna, they will serve it on fresh fettuccine, but you can enjoy it on any kind of pasta. Don't forget to sprinkle it with parmigiano.
Try it with Rigatoni Gentile or Pappardelle
Comes frozen in a 16oz. microwaveable container.
There is plenty of sauce for a 1lb of pasta.
